Don’t miss the last Saturday Summer Street Fest of the season, Saturday, September 3, 2011, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. To end the summer, Saturday Summer Street Fest has nothing but the best to liven up the streets of Downtown Hampton! The spectacular entertainment includes music performed by former American Idol® contestant Felicia Barton and locals favorite Slapwater. The children’s area offers plenty of summer fun including unlimited rides, face painting and other activities for only $4 a ticket, presented by Calvary Assembly of God.

Felicia Barton –

 A Virginia Beach native, Felicia Barton has been performing from a very early age, starting from when she was just two years old. She was a contestant on the eighth season of American Idol® and was originally eliminated in the Top 50 round, but was reinstated as part of the Top 36 after a disqualification.

Slapwater –

Winner of the best local band award, Slapwater provides a musical variety from a soft dinner set to livelyRock 'n Roll, Motown, Beach, Disco, Oldies and all of your favorite dance music.

The Virginia Air & Space Center is kicking off the new school year with a Back to School Special in IMAX! All IMAX tickets can be purchased for $5, August 26 – September 8, 2011. The special includes Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 showing in IMAX through September 4. Other IMAX films showing through September 8 include Born to be Wild 3D, Hubble 3D, Under the Sea 3D and Galapagos 3D.

Monday Night Football for FREE in IMAX!

 Attention football fans, see the game for FREE on the giant IMAX screen, Monday, September 12, 2011! The Virginia Air & Space Center is hosting a Tailgate Party with all of your favorite football pastimes. Food will be available for purchase from the Cosmic Café and a cash bar will be available. 

Guests can purchase a special Tailgate Pass for $20 that includes: 

• Complimentary draft beer
• Cornhole
• Madden on the giant screen
• One complimentary nacho with cheese
• 10% off purchases in the Cosmic Café.

Juno's Ready on This Week @NASA

New Project Juno!

August 5, 2011 - 11 a.m.

The Virginia Air & Space Center will host live launch coverage of Juno on Friday, August 5, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Juno mission begins the next chapter in space exploration as it is expected to travel to Jupiter and provide extensive data to help scientists to understand the planet’s origin, evolution, and structure. The Center will provide additional activities leading up to the launch on Wednesday and Thursday, August 3 & 4, including live, interactive programming from Kennedy Space Center. VASC guests will be able to ask scientists, engineers, and NASA officials questions regarding the Juno mission. The viewing and activities are included with the purchase of exhibit admission.
